Major milestone: First Caucasian data for RLRL published!

We are thrilled to announce the publication of the first 12-month RCT of RLRL in a Caucasian population, with a RCT comparing the combination use of RLRL and orthokeratology to orthokeratology alone, published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.

Key 12-month findings of this study were:

- Adjusted mean difference in AL change of -0.226mm between RLRL+OK and OK only groups

- Mean axial shortening noted in the RLRL+OK group (-0.124mm)

- 80% of children in the RLRL+OK group achieved AL shortening of more than -0.05mm at 12 months

- Median RLRL treatment compliance of 71%

- No adverse events reported

Why this matters

These are the first published European and Caucasian results for RLRL in myopia management, amid several ongoing studies of RLRL in various different global populations. Importantly, the outcomes observed in Spain align with previously published Asian cohorts using combination RLRL+OK and achieving mean axial shortening, supporting global consistency in RLRL's treatment effect.

This publication is a monumental step towards strengthening the international evidence base for RLRL, providing clinicians with meaningful insights into RLRL’s efficacy, safety profile, and tolerability in a European population.

We are incredibly grateful to the Spanish investigator team for their collaboration on this project and important work in advancing the scientific understanding of RLRL in myopia management. A hearty congratulations to them, and we look forward to much more international data on RLRL coming soon!
